We’ve all heard of the summer slide: the learning loss that occurs when students aren’t in school during the summer months. Depending on the subject and grade level, students can lose a significant amount of the knowledge they acquired in the previous school year, which means they begin the school year playing catch up! At Scholars, we offer summer programs to help prevent the summer slide, and summer is the perfect time for students to catch up, keep up, and get ahead without the social and academic pressures of school.
TEACH, a magazine for K-12 educators, recently interviewed Scholars about preventing the summer slide. Check out what they and others had to say, and what you can do to make the most of summer learning, on page 15!
